The annual summits ensure that experts who speak for human and civil rights to health information privacy are at the table with academic, industry, and government experts on healthcare and health IT. A key aim of each summit is to include new and relevant international cultural, technical, social, ethical and legal perspectives so that we can broaden and deepen the dialogue and examination of urgent problems and realistic solutions. In doing so, we hope to address the need for comprehensive and meaningful health data security and privacy to ensure public trust in health professionals, technology, and governments; to ensure high quality healthcare; and to reap the research breakthroughs and benefits only possible with trustworthy technologies and consumer protections that put patients first and do no harm.
