Ensuring personal control over health information in the face of rapid deployment of healthcare IT and online technologies is a great challenge. The Health Privacy Summit is a unique, inclusive event that offers the only forum in the world for high-level, thoughtful discussions about the most urgent national and international health privacy issues and solutions.
The annual summits are co-hosted by Patient Privacy Rights and the O’Neill Institute for National and Global and Health Law. A key aim of each summit is to include new and relevant national and international perspectives so that we can broaden and deepen the discussion of urgent problems and realistic solutions. In doing so, we hope to address the need for comprehensive and meaningful health data security and privacy to ensure public trust in health professionals, technology, and governments; to ensure high quality healthcare; and to reap the research breakthroughs and benefits only possible with trustworthy technologies and consumer protections that put patients first and do no harm.
