Senate nears agreement on Wired for Health bill
Health information technology legislation could move forward by Memorial Day after key lawmakers agreed to a series of changes meant to strengthen privacy and security provisions in the bill.
After a months-long stalemate, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) on Wednesday said that he had effectively reached an agreement with the bill’s authors, Sens. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Michael Enzi (R-Wyo.), to include stepped-up privacy and security protections to the Wired for Health Care Quality Act.
